Volunteer
There are two ways to volunteer with us. You can choose one or both — just fill out the relevant form(s) below.
As a general note, we're a very small team, so we won't always be able to respond to every sign-up individually. Thank you for taking the time to register your interest.
It may take some time for a suitable project to come up. In part, this is because our work often responds to legal developments as they arise, which adds urgency and time pressure to the work that needs to be done. But our volunteer database is one of our most-used resources, and we greatly appreciate people who want to get involved. We try to bring in volunteers where we can, but appreciate your patience.
If you have an idea you’d like to develop or discuss with us, we’d love to hear it. We are always open to suggestions about issues we should take on or areas where you think more work is needed.
(1) Volunteer directly on LCANZI projects
How it works:
Fill out the form to the right telling us about your expertise and interests.
When we establish a project that matches your skills, we'll be in touch. We can't always immediately find and assign a project to people, but it is incredibly useful for us to have a database of volunteers as issues arise (and we do make a lot of use of it).
We always welcome any ideas that you might have, or ideas that you would like to progress with us. Please feel free to add these into your expression of interest in the form.
This option is for LCANZI members.

(2) Join our pro-bono panel
Provide pro-bono or reduced-fee legal services to communities, individuals, and organisations with climate-related legal concerns. We act as the matching service between communities and practising lawyers willing to help.
Requests vary, and can include:
Legal research
Non-profit governance and structure
Litigation
How it works:
Fill out this form describing the kind of work you're willing to take on.
Our pro-bono coordinator may contact you if we need to clarify anything.
When a request comes through that matches your offer and skills, we'll put you in contact with the activist or organisation. You may not hear from us for some time, due to the nature of the pro bono requests we receive. The pro bono matching database is incredibly useful and we hugely appreciate people registering their interest in being matched with a group.
You have no obligation to take on any request we send you.
